Key Inspector for macOS

Key Inspector for macOS is a development tool that allows you to inspect the Key system implemented on the Mac machine. The tool is particularly useful during the development phase of an application. It searches and lists all the Keys found on the machine. It also displays the status of the Key, including Program ID and Key Properties. So you can easily keep track of the license status and see if the protected application works as expected.

 

note NOTE: During the development and testing of your application, it is recommended to run the Key Inspector tool to keep track of the license status. You should also use the Inspector to destroy any existing Key before starting each new test. This will ensure that no old Key gets mixed up in subsequent tests.

 

note NOTE: When using the Key Inspector to destroy the Key, it completely removes the Key system and makes your machine fresh as if the Key never existed. So you can easily test the protected application in the user environment on your machine, without having to do it on another machine.

 

To run Key Inspector for macOS, you must activate the ElecKey license on your Mac machine first. Follow the instructions below how to activate the ElecKey license via the Key Inspector tool.

Registering EleKey

When you start Key Inspector for macOS for the time first, you will be asked to register for a license. You can choose either the evaluation or standard license. After registration, you will receive a License Key or an Activation Key (for the standard license) to activate the license.

To Register ElecKey

1.       Start Key Inspector. The Product Registration and Activation window appears.

2.       From the ElecKey Edition combo box, select the edition that corresponds to the ElecKey edition installed on your PC. You may need to restart the program when applying a different edition.

3.       Select the license type you wish to register, Evaluation or Standard License.

4.       Click the Register button. You will be linked to the Sciensoft website on the registration page.

5.       Follow the registration instructions on the web page.

Evaluation License

If you register for an evaluation license, you will receive a 30-day License Key to activate ElecKey. Follow the instructions below to activate the evaluation license.

To Activate Evaluation License

1.       Start Key Inspector. The Product Registration and Activation window appears.

2.       From the ElecKey Edition combo box, select the edition that corresponds to the ElecKey edition installed on your PC. You may need to restart the program when applying a different edition.

3.       Select the Evaluation License tab.

4.       Enter your License Key in the provided field. Then, click the OK button.

5.       A message “Activation Complete” is displayed.

Standard License

When you register for the standard license, you will receive an Activation Key to activate ElecKey. Using the Activation Key allows you to activate the license instantly online (your machine must have an Internet connection). Otherwise, you can choose the web activation method. You can use any device having access to the Internet to go to the activation web page. Follow the provided instructions; you will receive a License Key via email.

To Activate via Online Activation

1.       Start Key Inspector. The Product Registration and Activation window appears.

2.       From the ElecKey Edition combo box, select the edition that corresponds to the ElecKey edition installed on your PC. You may need to restart the program when applying a different edition.

3.       Select the Standard License tab.

4.       Enter your name and organization/company in the provided Name and Organization fields.

5.       Enter your Activation Key in the provided field. Then, click the Auto Activate button.

6.       A message “Activation Complete” is displayed.

To Activate via Web Activation

1.       Start Key Inspector. The Product Registration and Activation window appears.

2.       From the ElecKey Edition combo box, select the edition that corresponds to the ElecKey edition installed on your PC. You may need to restart the program when applying a different edition.

3.       Select the Standard License tab.

4.       Enter your name and organization/company in the provided Name and Organization fields.

5.       Click the Manual Activate button. You will be linked to the Sciensoft website on the activation page.

6.       Follow the activation instructions on the web page. You will receive a License Key via email.

7.       Enter your License Key in the provided field. Then, click the OK button.

8.       A message “Activation Complete” is displayed.
