The Remake utility (REMAKE.EXE) allows the user to remake the license
for the protected application. Specifically, the utility resets the Key system
and updates the current hardware signatures. After the remake, the license is
voided. The user will need to activate the license again.
The Remake utility is useful for resolving problems related to the
license for the protected application. For example, the user may upgrade
hardware to the machine without deactivating the license properly. This can
affect the Key system and give the error messages such as “Error loading Key
device!” or “Invalid Key device!”. The user can run
the Remake utility to remake the license, and activate it again.
When the automatic activation option is enabled, the Remake utility
allows the user to remake and reactivate the license in one single step via the
Activation Key. The utility can connect to the Activation Server by which it
will authenticate the Activation Key first. When successful, it remakes the
license and then performs a license activation request. In this case, the
utility can also remake the invalidated license as a result of genuine license
validation, which gives the error message “Invalid Key (Program ID)!”.
NOTE: The Remake utility should be provided
to an individual user when necessary to resolve problems related to the
license. When the Activation Server is deployed, it is recommended that you
provide the Remake utility with automatic activation to the user because it
is more secure with authentication to the server before allowing the remake. |
NOTE: The Remake utility without automatic
activation cannot remake the invalidated license as a result of genuine
license validation. |
